My name is Mark, and I am a student at Phoenix College. I never would have thought math and science courses would be enjoyable, let alone become my foreseeable future. I am a trained chef that has worked at many of the Valley's top resorts and restaurants. I spent over a decade pursuing this career, before making a decision to change things up a little bit. Never going to a formal college, I was curious about what the experience would be like. I decided to take a few classes while I was working at a local bike shop (The Slippery Pig!), and one of those classes was a basic college algebra course. I never had so much fun in my life. Since then, I have continued to take heavy math and science course loads, and I have a strong interest in chemistry, engineering, and mathematics. Discovering this side of my brain has been an incredibly fun and challenging experience.
This is the third semester that I have been awarded the S-STEM scholarship through Phoenix College. As part of the scholarship, I will be conducting a research experiment. My blog will be documenting the project. In my free time (haha), I make my own household products, as well as a few other things. I will also be posting a few of these projects on here with a little chemistry explanation of the how and why behind them.
